What is a Giving Circle?Written by Carrie Cousins, Give WP, January 2024 Collective giving, or a giving circle, creates a sense of belonging between its members and the organization's mission and purpose. When people with shared values come together to make a change, their efforts and collective gifts enable your organization's ability to make a difference. Particularly favored by women, giving circles create a sub-community around nonprofits. Data shows that women contribute to nonprofits more than men, so it's not surprising they constitute nearly 70% of giving circle members. Read More | Quick Links |

In time I realized all of the women I was friends with belonged to The Women’s Giving Circle—that did it for me! I am very fond of these women and respect them enormously for the generosity, kindness, and sense of responsibility they exhibit."Julie, three-year member |

"I had heard about giving circles and really liked the concept of collective giving. I was introduced to a WGC founder, Sue Guben, and she explained the history of the WGC of SWFL. I felt like she was a kindred spirit right away, and I wanted to meet other like-minded women who care about the community and who also like the idea of collective giving. Most importantly for me, I wanted to support an array of nonprofit organizations in the community that are doing great work. I liked the way the grant committee does its work and I trust the process. This is important to me at this stage in life, since I don't have as much time as I would like to volunteer. I'm grateful for the women who take on this important work as volunteers, allowing the rest of us to feel confident that the funds are being distributed to organizations who will use them wisely to make a positive impact in our community."Sheryl, seven-year member |
