Together...join our journey of learning, working, and giving together |
Attend the Fall and Spring MeetingsDuring these meetings, members learn about issues facing women and their families in SWFL, hear from our grantees, and receive updates on WGC initiatives…and of course, a bit of socializing too! It's a great way to reconnect with like-minded women who care and want to forge meaningful relationships. For more information, contact us. | Join a CommitteePerhaps you would like to share a talent or your time by serving on a committee. It's a great way to meet other philanthropic women. Guided by our WGC Cochairs, our seven standing committees are directly responsible for WGC's day-to-day operation. These committees are critical to our ongoing success! They include Grant Research, Grant Evaluation, Grant Monitoring, Programs, Membership, Outreach, and Communications. To see WGC committee descriptions, click here. To learn more, contact us. | Tour Local NonprofitsOur carefully arranged tours are a great way to engage with our premier nonprofits. These tours are customized for WGC members so we can learn about various organizations and perhaps become their advocates. Some of our most educational tours include the Guadalupe Center, the Baker Senior Center, and the Harry Chapin Food Bank Distribution Center. After our tours, we often meet for lunch to share our impressions and get to know each other! For more information, contact us. |
Volunteer with our PartnersMany of our members find volunteering to be a rewarding experience! To show support for our grantees beyond the financial, we maintain a list of volunteer opportunities at their organizations. These organizations cover a broad array of missions—from children's issues to housing to food insecurities, etc. While volunteering is likely to be an individual activity, we assist by guiding you to an organization that addresses your passion and commitment. To see a list of volunteer opportunities, click here. For more information, contact us. | Gather at a Lunch BunchRelationship building is very important to us... and it starts with our members! As a priority through our Lunch Bunch gatherings, we get to know each other—connect, laugh, and engage in interesting conversations. The power of the "lunch table" brings people together in such a comfortable way... a perfect way to cultivate friendships and to increase our community awareness. Generally, there is a monthly Lunch Bunch scheduled during 'season' and one in the summer. I was immediately impressed with the women I met, how they manage the grantmaking process and their warmth. It was an easy decision to join!"Celeste, one-year member "It's true that in giving we receive, because in giving of my time and money to the Women's Giving Circle, I have received the gift of true friendship of so many women and with them I have gotten to know about the community beyond my own street. I feel like I am a vital part of my community in so many ways."Ruthmarie, ten-year member |
